All Day | Poetry on Demand
Festival goers may give a topic or prompt and talk about a bout the poem they want, crafted on the spot on a manual typewriter. (Booth 78 next to The Book Cottage Kea Truck)
South Bend Elkhart Bird Alliance
12:00 | Meditative Bird Walk | Meet in front of the Labyrinth
Join Catherine and Melissa from the South Bend Elkhart Bird Alliance (booth 75) to take an easy, slow stroll around Potawatomi Park with one simple goal, be with the birds. With binoculars and field guides, we will use our sense of sight and hearing to observe, enjoy, and ponder our feathered friends. We will keep a close look out for the red-headed woodpecker, a once common, but now rare woodpecker species that frequents Potawatomi Park. No experience needed.
World Labyrinth Day
1:00 | Walk as One at 1
WLD is an annual international event celebrated on the first Saturday in May, when thousands of people around the globe participate in “Walk as One at 1”, a moving meditation for world peace and a celebration of the labyrinth experience. At 1 pm local time, we will join many around the world to create a rolling wave of peaceful energy passing from one time zone to the next. As part of this year’s “Walk as One at 1” experience, you will be accompanied by the sound frequencies of four area sound healing practitioners playing crystal and Tibetan bowls, gongs, bells, as well as other select instruments to add to this age-old sacred walk. Take time as you walk to absorb their sounds.
Engage your senses, release what no longer serves you, and take a peaceful, silent walk as we “Walk as One at 1” with the world.
*Don’t miss Professor Ladd’s talk on Labyrinths at 12:30 at the Mind Stage.

1 pm – 3 pm | Solar Cooking Demonstration
Did you know the sun can cook your food? Stop by and find out how! Diana Mendelsohn brings the fascinating world of solar cooking to the festival with a live demonstration showing how the power of the sun can be harnessed to prepare food without electricity, gas, or fire. It is sustainable, simple, and surprisingly effective. Come curious and leave inspired by what is possible when we work with nature rather than against it.
